about

hello. i’m Kalina Middleton

A man with dark hair and a mustache holding a young girl with red hair, both smiling and outdoors among trees and greenery.

And that’s my dad. He was a Command Master Chief in the US Navy and served on Loveland’s Planning Commission. He taught me fairness, patience, and how to lead without taking things so damn seriously. (Something we could use a little more of around here). I’ll do the same, but with a little more fire.

I was raised to mind my manners, earn my keep, and respect the rules. Leadership shouldn’t need reminders like that.

I’m glad you’re here.

  • I was born in Texas to a Navy aircraft engineer and a determined young mother who worked every job she could to keep us afloat. My parents divorced early, and like a lot of families, we had years of uncertainty and hard work to find our footing.

I worked my way through restaurants and put myself through college, earning a degree in interior architecture. I built a career in high rise commercial design where complex problem-solving and community spaces became my focus.

I learned resilience, determination and etiquette from my mother. She taught me how to get things done independently and with strength. My dad taught me the value of precision, discipline, and fairness, lessons he carried from his time in the Navy to his years on Loveland’s Planning Commission. He showed me that leadership means showing up, doing the work, and respecting everyone at the table.

  • My connection to Loveland began just before the turn of the century, when my dad made this charming city his forever home. He served on Loveland’s Planning Commission until 2016, shaping how our community grew.

When I came back to Loveland to care for my dad during his final days, I saw firsthand how much this community meant to him. After he passed, I made Loveland my home too.

A woman with shoulder-length red hair in a navy blue dress and pearl necklace smiling next to a man in a white military uniform with medals, wearing a white naval officer's cap, standing on a grassy area.

My dad lead with fairness, patience, and humor. I will lead the same way he did, but with more tenacity and determination. That’s just who I am. I’m running for City Council to bring that same respect and discipline back to City Council. And with any luck I can keep that sense of humor going too.

I’ve seen what happens when good people stop paying attention, and when local leadership loses focus on the basics: respect, fairness, and responsibility. I’m not a politician; I’m a neighbor, a problem-solver, and a person who believes that common sense can fix what politics has broken.

I’m running to restore civility, rebuild trust, and make sure Loveland stays a city that works for the people who actually live here.
